Building Care Department Highlights and Accomplishments:
- The Department of Building Care’s 297 custodians take great pride in providing comprehensive custodial services across Cornell’s campus
- The custodial staff produce high quality work with relatively large areas serviced
- Over 130 campus buildings with more than 9.6 million square feet maintained
- 15 custodial managers supervise services from fourteen separate centers
- Strong in-house training program conducted for all staff on a wide variety of subjects
- Quality Assurance Program conducted to ensure that high quality services are provided
- Special custodial team facilitates Commencement, Trustee Weekend, and Barton Hall events
- Emergency Response Team & vehicles respond to floods, fire clean-up & other emergencies
- Custodial contracting enterprise facilitates construction clean-up and off campus buildings
