Associated with an enlightened view of environmental issues, people have come to realize that waste disposal involves complex issues in this modern age. No longer can we simply toss out those items that have outlived their usefullness. By providing easy access to the proper methods for disposal of refuse and materials destined for recycling, the Solid Waste operation at the Grounds Department ensures that the University complies with all applicable regulations. Moreover, utilizing innovative techniques for improved efficiency, Cornell now recycles more of its solid waste materials than ever before while reducing costs for their disposal.
When it comes to recycling, we've done well, Cornell! We send 50 percent less waste to landfills than we did in 1990. But we could do more. Browse these pages to learn how.
